When Fear Says You Don’t Matter — God Says You Do

(Message from Pastor Ryan Albaugh, Watsonville Church of the Nazarene)

We just wrapped up our Do Not Fear series with a message from Matthew 10:27–31, and it might be one of the most personal truths in all of Scripture:

“You are worth more than many sparrows.”

Jesus uses this simple image to remind us that God sees what the world overlooks. If He cares for the smallest bird, how much more does He care for you—His child, made in His image, loved beyond measure?

God Sees What the World Misses

In a world obsessed with followers, achievements, and highlight reels, it’s easy to feel like we don’t matter. We scroll through social media and compare our ordinary moments to everyone else’s biggest wins. We work hard, love deeply, and serve quietly—and sometimes wonder if anyone notices.

But Jesus tells us plainly: you are not invisible to God. The same God who numbers every hair on your head and watches over every sparrow also watches over you. He knows your worries, your struggles, and your dreams.

When Fear Tells You Otherwise

Fear is a master storyteller. It tells us lies about who we are and what we’re worth. It whispers, “You’re not enough. You’re forgotten. You don’t matter.”
But Jesus speaks a louder truth—one rooted in eternity: You are loved, known, and priceless in the eyes of your Father.

In this message, Pastor Ryan explored how we can push back against fear by remembering who God says we are. From the story of David and Goliath, where an overlooked shepherd boy faced a giant, to Mother Teresa’s quiet faithfulness, and even to the underdog moments in everyday life, we’re reminded that God delights in turning the unnoticed into the unforgettable.

Faith Over Fear

When we believe that God sees us, it changes how we live. We don’t have to prove our worth to the world. We don’t have to let fear dictate our choices. Instead, we can live boldly, freely, and confidently—knowing that the Creator of the universe calls us His own.

Jesus said, “What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the rooftops.” (Matthew 10:27)
This is a call to courage—to live out our faith without fear and to share the hope of Christ with others.

Finding Courage in Community

At Watsonville Church of the Nazarene (WatsNaz), we believe that no one should face fear or faith alone. Our mission is to walk with Jesus, serve with others, and live out the hope of heaven in everyday life. Every Sunday, we gather as a family of believers to be reminded of that truth—that God sees you, knows you, and values you deeply.

If you’ve been feeling unseen, unworthy, or afraid of what’s ahead, this message will encourage your heart. God’s attention rests on every detail of your life. You are seen. You are loved. You are worth more than you know.

Join Us This Sunday

We’d love for you to experience this hope and community in person. Join us for Sunday worship at 9:00AM at Watsonville Church of the Nazarene, located at 710 Green Valley Road. Every week we gather for uplifting music, biblical teaching, and a welcoming community that wants to walk with you on your journey of faith.

Whether you’re looking for a church home in Watsonville, searching for answers, or just curious about who Jesus is—we want to invite you to come and see.

And remember: at WatsNaz, we’re not just a crowd—we’re a Family on Mission. Come be part of it.
