Come and See – A Message from Pastor Ryan
This past Sunday at Watsonville Church of the Nazarene (WatsNaz), Pastor Ryan continued our sermon series How to Tell People About Jesus with a message from John 1:35–51.
In this passage, we see the very first disciples of Jesus—Andrew, Philip, and Nathanael—respond to His invitation. What’s striking is how simple the pattern is: one person meets Jesus, then immediately invites someone else. Andrew brings his brother Simon Peter. Philip finds Nathanael. And all along the way, the invitation is just three words: “Come and see.”
That phrase carries the heart of the gospel. Following Jesus isn’t about having every answer or figuring everything out on your own. It starts with experiencing Him personally and then sharing that experience with others. The challenge Pastor Ryan gave our church family is clear: invite someone you know to come and see Jesus this week.
Why This Matters
In our busy and divided world, it can feel intimidating to talk about faith. Many of us think we need to have the perfect words, the right arguments, or a powerful story. But John 1 reminds us that it’s not about our ability—it’s about the power of Jesus to change lives. All we’re asked to do is extend the invitation.
Just like a single candle can light another, we are called to share the light of Christ. Imagine if every Christian in Watsonville and beyond invited even one friend, coworker, or neighbor to meet Jesus. The ripple effect could transform families, workplaces, and entire communities.
